Rains Continue To Alleviate Drought Conditions In Palau
The Palau Public Utilities Corporation (PPUC) is looking to lift water restrictions after rains in the past weeks help alleviate drought conditions across Palau.
According to the new water-rationing schedule released this morning, waters hours will be from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. and because Ngerikiil is in a much better shape to supply water, there is a possibility of resuming 24-hour water service this weekend.

On March 12, the water company implemented water hours after the water reservoirs water levels decreased to a critical level.
The El Nino -induced drought made life hard for most residents in Palau, as water supply were reduced to three hours a day ,with some areas not getting water at all.
Drought has also impacted Palau’s famous Jellyfish Lake, with the jellyfish population declining in recent months.
PPUC however continues to ask residents to sustain water conservation efforts since that water hours might sill change depending on the rainfall.
According to the May 4 weather report by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), isolated showers are expected this week.
An April 28 drought report statement from Guam stated that while the strong El Nino is weakening, development of La Nina might be felt by the end of the year in Micronesia.
